Manual Therapy
Manual Therapy is the use of “hands-on” treatment to improve a patient’s range of motion, decrease stiffness and spasm, and reduce pain. Manual treatment includes: myofascial release, joint mobilization, massage, soft tissue release, manual traction, passive stretching, trigger point therapy, and active release therapy.
Therapeutic exercise is central to long-lasting recovery, so patient compliance with an exercise program is vital. Manual therapy eases pain and allows the patient to tolerate exercise with greater comfort. As function is restored, a more progressive, personalized exercise program will speed up a successful outcome.
Patients who have experienced other therapy frequently say, “This is completely different,” and “My prior therapy never touched me.” At Results Physiotherapy, all therapy staff receive extensive training in manual therapy when they join the company. We have more therapists certified in Orthopedic Manual Therapy than any other company in Tennessee.
