I grew up in Adelaide, on the southern coast of Australia. In 1994, I received my physical therapy degree from the University of South Australia, home of physical therapy legends, Geoff Maitland and David Butler. There I learned advanced techniques in hands-on manual therapy, and after graduating, I worked in both private practice and public hospital settings.
I was looking for a job that involved travel when Victor Popov, physical therapist for the Australian Swimming Team, introduced me to Results Physiotherapy. I joined the new company in 1996, planning to work in the US for a year or two. If things turned out great, I thought I might stay as long as five years. Obviously things have turned out better than great.
Sure, I miss Australia, but Tennessee is my home now. How many people work for a company that lets you wake up every day and love what you do? As VP of Marketing, I oversee a team of talented, experienced field marketers who are charged with communicating the clinical advantages that patients receive with our treatment. I still treat patients at our Green Hills clinic. This is a very important part of my week as it keeps me in touch with why I became a therapist to start with. It also helps me work with our management team to ensure that every patient experience is world-class, from initial contact to final interaction. The fact that our partners chose a practicing physical therapist to lead the marketing team is a clear illustration of where our company sets priorities. Our commitment to outstanding physical therapy always comes first. Our marketing team is blessed by having a service we can talk about with excitement and honesty. At every meeting with physicians, clients or the greater community, our enthusiasm is real.
The comments I hear most often from our patients are, “This is completely different,” and “They never touched me.” My challenge is to give this opportunity for relief and recovery to as many people as possible.
