PHYSICAL THERAPIST & PT ASSISTANT STUDENT AFFILIATION PROGRAMS
Director: Ashlee Joiner Butler, Center Coordinator of Clinical Education
Results Physiotherapy’s Affiliation Program offers physical therapy students exposure to cutting edge orthopedic manual physical therapy in a private practice setting that is committed to clinical excellence, ongoing professional education and patient centered care. We integrate professional education activities with clinical practice through an ongoing series of continuing professional education courses and structured clinical mentoring programs for students. Students affiliated with Results have opportunity to attend world-class orthopedic courses alongside our professional staff in addition to participating in the student tutorials we provide as a routine part of affiliation. All our clinics provide students training in orthopedic manual therapy. In addition, some of our clinics also provide opportunities for exposure to physical therapy services in the performing arts, women’s health and occupational health.
Important Clinical Affiliation Information
Stipulations:
- Due to our goal of providing an affiliation program which focuses on the clinical application of manual therapy techniques and advanced exercise prescription; and due to the nature of the tutorial sessions within the affiliation period, Results Physiotherapy would like to concentrate on the placement of students in their final affiliations. We feel this will give us more consistency in the experience and skill levels of the participants.
- We offer extensive tutoring and mentoring that benefit all students but is tailored for those students with previous clinical experience.
- Students should have a cumulative GPA of >3.2 in all orthopedic-related course work.
- There is a set of pre-placement questions that we require any final affiliate to complete before they join us. It is a set of questions used for the following purposes. First, it prepares the student for the types of patient problems that they will see in our clinics. Second, it gives me and their CI a picture of where the student is in their clinical-reasoning development. There is no pass/fail for the questions and students can use any and all resources available to them to answer the questions.
- We do accept non-final affiliations on a first-come, first serve basis. We do require that any full-time student sent to us have all orthopedic courses finished with a > 3.2 GPA.
- We recommend that potential students call us and ask specific questions of our affiliation and what we can offer them.
Housing:
- Contact CCCE for available housing list. It is up to the student to make housing arrangements.
- At this time, there is a limited stipend available for certain final affiliates in our non-metropolitian clinics. Please contact CCCE with further information.
